Late 16th/early 17th century
Of sleek, rectangular design, the sides of the cover edged with flat wide beading where it meets the base and rounded corners of the box, set on low flush corner feet, traces of ink remaining in the interior
3in. (8cm.) high, 14in. (35.3cm.) wide, 9in. (22.6cm.) deep
