In excavated condition, almost centainly a river find, with long flat double-edged blade coming to a characteristic rounded point, cut with three narrow fullers over its lower half on both sides, a running wolf mark inlaid in latten on one side at the forte, struck with two marks on one side of the tang, S-shaped spatulate quillons, and 'wheel' pommel.

Comparable swords are included amongst the booty captured by Ottoman forces and now preserved in the collections of the Topkapi and Askeri Museums in Istanbul. See D. G. Alexander, European Swords in the Collections in Istanbul, part II, Waffen und Kostümkunde, 1987, heft 1, Nos.106, 107 and 108.

The 'wheel' pommel is unusual and while it must pre-date this sword it would appear to be an early working replacement.
