A JOINED ALTAR CLOTH
16/17th Century, probably Genoese
of crimson velvet, the central band with scrolling strap work in metal threads enclosing roundels containing shields, the centre with a coronet above a stylised M, the scalloped border of stylised appliqué flowers edged with a woven tape, the strapwork infill reworked at a later date, ground stressed, the right hand panel bearing signs of unrelated embroidery

and an altar hanging of mustard yellow velvet, Italian, probably 16th Century,
applied with six orphrey panels each depicting a saint standing on tiled ground beneath a canope, distressed, 11½ x 86in. (29 x 215cm) (2)
