A KAKIEMON OVIFORM VASE AND A BOTTLE VASE
Edo Period (Late 17th Century)
The first decorated iron-red, green, blue, yellow and black enamels, with three shaped panels enclosing plum, pine and bamboo separated by vertical bands of flowerheads and stylised foliage, the shoulder with three plain bands beneath an everted neck with a band of lappetts to the base; the second of slightly facetted octagonal form decorated in iron-red, green, blue, yellow and black enamels, with a repeated scene of a bird perched on rockwork among blossoming peonies and foliage, the shoulder with scrolling patterns and the slightly flared neck with a band of lappets, both restored
