A KASHAN LUSTRE, COBALT-BLUE AND TURQUOISE MOULDED TILE FRAGMENT
CENTRAL IRAN, LATE 13TH CENTURY
Comprising the lower left corner of the inner section of a large or medium mihrab, the lustre ground with fine scrolling motifs around a raised leafy tendril with turquoise leaves, a vertical band of kufic to one side, a stepped panel below with band of naskh, part of a pillar to the left with interlaced blue and turquoise arabesques on a scrolling lustre ground between chevron stripes
