Lot Essay

The present lot is part of a group of small sized, usually square rugs primarily with prayer designs and sometimes with extended kilim ends. Scholars have attributed the origin of these rugs with the village of Kozak, in the region of Bergama. These are typically smaller in size and maintain a rich palette, quintessential of Western Anatolia.
