A Kutani bowl and domed cover
with Buddhistic lion handles and finial, painted and gilt with birds in flowering gardens on grounds of phoenix and butterfly roundels amongst cloud scrolls and scrolling foliage -- 13½in. (34cms) wide including handles, 19th century, (two hairline rim cracks, end of one lion tail restuck).
