The small circular cream dial with Arabic and baton numerals between geometric shoulders set with calibré-cut and cabochon synthetic rubies to the bracelet of snake link design, reverse winder, lever movement, circa 1940, in original fitted green leather Cartier, London case
Dial signed Cartier, Nos. 80660 and 7163
Provenance
The watch was sold back to Cartier by the original owner on the 9th August 1950 and was put back into stock on 15th December the same year. It was purchased by H.M. Queen Elizabeth, later H.M. Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, for £100 as a Christmas present for her 20 year old daughter, H.R.H. The Princess Margaret.
