A LARGE BRONZE BUDDHISTIC LION CENSER, MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
the fierce grimacing beast seated with its right paw raised on a brocade ball, its scrolling tail flicked upwards, a section of the maned back detaches forming the cover for the hollow body interior -- 14½in. (37cm.) high, fitted wood stand carved as cloud scrolls.
