A LARGE CYPRIOT RED POLISHED WARE SPOUTED BOWL
EARLY BRONZE AGE, CIRCA 2500-1900 B.C.
With pierced lug handle, 13¾ in. (30.5 cm.) diam.; another with twin lug handles, notched relief bands below the shoulder and four vestigial protomes, circa 2500-1900 B.C., 16¼ in. (41.5 cm.) diam.; a Daunian red and brown painted pottery olla, with twin animal headed protomes and two loop handles on the shoulder, circa 550-500 B.C., 10½ in. (16.6 cm.) high; a painted pottery amphora, decorated with panels around the neck and a rhomboid pattern around the shoulder, 2nd millennium B.C., 5¼ in. (13.3 cm.) high; and a pottery dish with cream slip, early 1st millennium B.C., 10 in. (25.3 cm.) diam. (5)

Acquired in the 1960s-1970s by Peter Gimpel for Gimpel Fils Ltd, London.Item five: an ink inscription on the base reads: "Malta, date 1000-900. L[a]WR[e]NC[e] June 1899. Found by Major Wadham Terry."
