Rectangular, with rounded corners resting on four short bracket feet, with hinged cover, inlaid in mother-of-pearl on the cover with floral arabesques rendered in large pieces of cut shell within a border of circles and scallop-shaped leaf sprays, also inlaid on all four sides with a wide band of the same scrolling flowers; fitted with two metal C-shaped side handles, metal hinges and mounts and lockplate; the interior lined in paper, the base undecorated
