Lot Essay

Dasson based the form of these scrolling candelarms on a model by Clodion, and often repeated the form in his compositions, pairing them with a variety of bases. A pair of similiar patinated bronze candelabra dated 1880 were sold Christie's, New York, 21-22 October 2010, lot 605 ($27,500).
