by Lawrence & Mayo London, the walnut case with lid rising to reveal a purple plush flap over the upper tray containing a wide selection of electrum drawing instruments, including dividers, proportional dividers, ivory-handled probes, pens, beam compasses, a folding compass and other items, the second tray containing five long and five short ivory scale rules, a proportional scale, a brass and ivory parallel rule, a brass roller rule signed Lawrence & Mayo, the lower compartment with nickel-plated compass -- 6in. (15.2cm.) dia., and the companion folding-arm protractor with silvered scale, tangent-screw fine adjustment and clamp, the drawer below containing a paint box, a pallet and mixing jar, the electrum-bound case -- 145/8in. (37.1cm.) wide
