The arched padded back, sides and cushion seat upholstered in cream damask silk, with foliate-carved chanelled frame centering a flared clasp over a similarly carved seat rail on flower-headed molded cabriole legs with foliate toupie feet, redecorated

Lot Essay

The stamp is possibly that of Nicolas Louis Mariette, maître in 1770. A related canapé en corbeille by Mariette is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe Siècle, 1989, p. 553.
