A Louis XVI silver wine-taster Maker's mark of Mathieu-Pierre Lamoureux, Rouen, 1774, with later control mark Plain circular with moulded rim, the shaped bracket engraved with the figure of a man, his arms raised, holding a wine-bottle in his right hand and a wine-glass in his left, engraved above with the inscription 'VIVE LE BON VIN' on a band with rose terminals, with plain ring handle beneath, the body engraved 'Michel Le Peinteur', marked on side and handle 4in. (10.5cm.) wide 4ozs. (144gr.)
