with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache 1774-1780
Slightly tapering étui of quatrefoil section, the polished gold panels on cover, sides and base engraved with bright-cut borders, the matted borders chased with trailing foliage and flowers, the domed cap similarly adorned and topped by a floral rosette in three-colour gold, the later matrix engraved with scrolling monogram CM on a reeded ground surmounted by a couple of doves and a laurel wreath
