A MAGNIFICENT MASSIVE BLANC-DE-CHINE FIGURE OF GUANYIN
18TH CENTURY

The elegant figure of the Bodhisattva stands on a pedestal of overlapping lotus petals, her softly rounded face is modelled with well-defined features and eyes downcast in a contemplative expression, the hair swept up in a topknot behind an ornate tiara accommodating two figures of Amitabha, the right hand in vitarka mudra and the left hand in varada mudra, with elaborate beaded strands and adornments draped under her scarf and over her crisply moulded robes, the back impressed with a commendation mark Puji Yuren, 'Virtue extends to all', the glaze of milky-white tone, firing fissures
