Of recessed broken outline, the top inset with gilt tooled brown leather, with a foliate carved edge, the interlaced blind fret-carved frieze fitted with three drawers, with three drawers to each pedestal with dummy drawers to the reverse, with rocaille and cabochon carved sides between three-quarter cluster column stiles, on a plinth base

Lot Essay

Inspired by Chippendale's Director of 1762, the design for this desk is drawn from that of the library table, plate LXXXV, and the left hand design of the clothe's chest, plate CXVIII.
