A MEISSEN ARMORIAL PUCE-GROUND TEABOWL AND A SAUCER
THE TEABOWL CIRCA 1735-37, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK, DREHER'S STAR AND / MARK TO FOOTRIM, THE SAUCER PROBABLY A 19TH CENTURY REPLACEMENT, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK
Painted with a shield-shape coat-of-arms, within a gilt quatrefoil cartouche, with merchant before ships and buildings in a harbour scene, the interior of the teabowl with a Kakiemon flower-spray, within gilt rims (minute scratching to enamels)

This coat-of-arms remain unidentified although other pieces from this service are recorded, these include: a teabowl and saucer from the Hoffmeister Collection, Part III, sale Bonham's, London, 24 November 2010, lot 73; another teabowl and saucer illustrated by Maureen Cassidy-Geiger in The Arnhold Collection of Meissen Porcelain 1710-1750, London, 2008, p. 330, no. 102 and a slop-bowl from the collection of Giovanni and Gabriella Barilla, sale Sotheby's, London, 14 March 2012, lot 150.
