CIRCA 1735, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARKS, GILDER'S DOT WITHIN CIRCLE MARK TO TEABOWL, GILDER'S 55. TO SAUCER
Painted by C.F. Herold, the exterior of the teabowl with Orientals seated at tables, playing with a dog, fanning steaming tea vessels and at various pursuits on a terrace with flowering shrubs and stylised fences, the interior with an Oriental within a double concentric iron-red circle cartouche below a gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk border, the saucer with two Orientals on a terrace, one resting a staff on his shoulder, another seated on a high-back chair and washing his hands in a jet of water from a fountain, within a similar cartouche and gilt border, gilt line rims (areas of very slight wear, area of wear to seated Oriental on saucer, teabowl with two minute short cracks from rim)
