Modelled with the Three Fates atop a rocky ledgemetting out hte thread of life, Clotho seated and holding a distaff, Lachesis standing and measuring each thread with a rod, an attendant putto handing her more for the skein, the winged Chronos stealing the scissors from a recumbent Atropos with one hand while clutching her hair in the other, on a stepped gilt-enriched base moulded with entwined ribbons and Vitruvian scroll

Lot Essay

This model was originally executed in 1774 as part of a large order for Catherine the Great.
