A Meissen Hausmalerei oval sugar-box and cover

Painted at Augsburg in the workshop of Elisabeth Wald, the cover with Venus and Cupid seated before a marble table within a shaped gilt line cartouche with iron-red diaper-pattern, gilt scroll supports with Orientals, reserves with hens and surmounted by a vase of flowers flanked by exotic birds, the border with interlocking gilt scrolls within a broad gilt band, the base with a lady and child beside a begging dog, a lady holding flowers beside an attendant with a basket of flowers and two panels with a lady arranging flowers with a negro attendant, within gilt line cartouches with iron-red and purple dots, scale-pattern and trailing leaves, the gilt scrolls forming supports for Oriental figures taking tea and smoking, the rims with gilt dot and band borders (some rubbing to gilding particularly on base)
