CIRCA 1725, INCISED X, INTERIOR OF COVER STAMPED, THE MOUNTS 18TH CENTURY
Probably painted by J.E. Stadler, with a lady and an attendant with parasol between flowering shrubs and terracing below a bird and insects, within a shaped quatrefoil underglaze-blue and gilt line cartouche between diaper-pattern bands reserved with panels of demi-flowerheads issuing flowering branches from the lower band, among a bird and insects, the handle with further flowering shrubs, the pewter hinged cover with a ball thumbpiece (cracked from rim with associated losses, star-crack to base)

Acquired from Herr Horowitz (?) on 17th January 1928, according to the paper note (inscribed in ink) sold with the lot.
