A MESSAPIAN STAMNOID ASKOS

Ovoid in form on a low foot, with a vertical mouth, the shoulders with two up-turned handles and a single trumpet-shaped spout perforated on the interior to serve as a strainer, with brownish-black ornament including, on the shoulder-zone, scrolling vines framing the spout on one side and a palmette on the other, with a broad band framed by two thin lines below, and a broad band on the rim with two thin lines below, and a thin line lower on the body, the handles and the mouth and base of the spout also in brownish-black
