A NAPLES (REAL FABBRICA FERDINANDEA) FIGURE OF A MUSE AND A LIMBACH CYLINDRICAL PEDESTAL

The Muse with her brown hair tied in a gilt-edged cream scarf and loosely draped in a gilt and pink-edged robe, with gilt sandals, turned to her left and holding a pink-bound volume to her right side inscribed IST, standing on an oval blue and gilt edged green base (slight chip to edge of base), crowned RF mark in green, 12 1/4in. (31cm.) high; the Limbach pedestal painted in purple monochrome with a traveller and companion with a horse and dog in a wooded landscape vignette, the reverse with a bouquet, scattered flower-sprays and insects between bands of radiating turquoise foliage and gilt line rims (top pierced and with associated cracks, gilding rubbed), blue crossed swords and star mark, 5in.
