A Naples (Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea) white biscuit large mythological group
Circa 1775
Modelled with a Classical female figure, possibly Queen Omphale, standing on a high rocky promentary, a naked child standing before her reaching up to help her with a floral garland, Hercules seated below them to the left holding a flaming torch in one hand and a spindle in the other, a scantily clad young warrior standing below them to the right, his helmet pushed back on his head and holding a robe over his loins, Hercules's lion's pelt and club strewn on the rocks between them, the reverse with a reclining youth, on a large oval rockwork base (damages and restorations, the garland, Omphale's right index finger, three of child's fingers and one of reclining youth's fingers are lacking, replacement torch, part of garland and left hand of reclining youth to be restuck)
