Lot Essay

The unusual starburst design of radially-veneered single deep drawer relates in feeling to commodes produced in the mid-18th century in and around Genoa. Several related examples are illustrated in L.C. Caimi, L'ebanisteria Genovese del Settecento, Parma, 1995, in particular a commode illustrated on p. 140, no. 97.
