KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARKS WITHIN DOUBLE-CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)

Each with deep rounded sides rising to a slightly everted rim, decorated in bright tones of underglaze blue in the centre of the interior with a lotus spray medallion under a frieze of lotus scroll and a narrow lotus band at the rim, with a further lotus scroll to the exterior above overlapping petals

A pair of bowls of this bold design is illustrated by J. Ayers, The Baur Collection, Chinese Ceramics, Geneva, 1974, vol. 4, A510 and 511, where the author mentions similar examples in The National Palace Museum, Taipei and the Musée Guimet, Paris.
