A PAIR OF CAMAIEU ROSE 'CARD PLAYERS' PLATES
Circa 1740
Each enamelled in pink at the centre with Dutch countryfolk seated at a table beneath a tree, two playing cards, a third watching them and the fourth embracing a maiden who is holding a pitcher of wine, a figure stands to the left smoking a pipe, the foreground with strutting chickens, below two narrow gilt bands in the well, and pink enamel floral garlands suspended from shaped scale-pattern cartouches divided by peacocks at the border, one with minor underside chips
