Each surmounted by a shaped brèche d'Alep marble top, the top of the carcass stamped to both front angles G. DURAND, above a frieze drawer, flanked to each side by an espagnolette, the front with a cupboard door centred by a scroll clasp within a foliate cartouche, the interior fitted with two adjustable shelves, on four foliate sabots; the back of the carcass also stamped to both top corners G. DURAND

Lot Essay

Specialising in the production of 18th century style furniture of the finest quality, Gervais-Maximillien-Eugène Durand (b. 1839) worked from a number of workshop locations in Paris during the last quarter of the 19th century. With his son Frédéric-Louis joining him in round 1890, the firm altered its name to Durand et Fils.
