A pair of French parcel-gilt walnut encoignures

Each surmounted by a triform brèche Harlequin marble top, above an acanthus frieze centred to the front by a female mask in a scallop shell, on three square tapering pierced baluster legs, each centred by a foliate terminal, joined by a scroll stretcher, centred by a square acanthus finial headed by flowers, on three square stepped feet

Provenance
Most probably commissioned by the Duc and Duchesse de Gramont, (née Rothschild) for their Renaissance style Château de Valière, near Paris, built in the 1890s.
