Each with carved and pierced splat and waisted uprights, drop-in seat covered in later needlework and cabriole legs with hoof feet and joined by raised scrolling cross-stretcher

Lot Essay

This chair model is identical to the the famous set of chairs supplied by Richard Roberts to George I in 1717 for the Royal Palaces. See Adam Bowett 'Early Georgian Furniture 1715-1740', 2009, page 164, plate 4.40
