Related French 'picturesque' table frame patterns with flower-festooned shells featured in Matthias Lock's Six Tables, 1746. These tables' serpentined truss legs terminating in involuted feet relate to those of a pair of shell-enriched pier-tables sold from Symonton Court, Hampshire Dreweatt Neate, Newbury, 1 February 1988 (see Partridge Fine Arts PLC, Recent Acquisitions 1991, p. 55, cat. no. 21).
