This type of oval wheelback frequently appears on chairs by Mayhew and Ince, including a set of white-painted chairs supplied to William Aislabie of Studley Royal (sold by Henry Vyner, Esq., in these Rooms, 5 July 1990, lot 142) and a set of chairs with upholstered seat supplied to Peper Harrow, Middlesex, which are illustrated in Country Life, 26 December 1925, p. 1005, fig. 6
