A pair of Meissen shaped oval dishes
painted with ornithological subjects, one painted with a woodpecker and another bird perching on a branch, the other painted with a blue-tit and another garden bird, the plain-ground painted with a scattering of insects, the borders ozier-moulded beneath shaped rims enriched in gilt, blue crossed swords marks -- 8 7/8in. (22.5cm.) wide, circa 1740 (flaking to enamels, slight wear to gilt, minor footrim chips)
