A pair of Meissen thistle-shaped pokale
Circa 1730, blue crossed swords marks and gilder's 6. to base
Painted with merchants at discussion among barrels and luggage on quaysides before fortified buildings and a palace, within Böttger-lustre panelled gilt ogival cartouches joined by iron-red and purple Laub-und Bandelwerk and oval medallions, each with a chinoiserie figure, beneath a border of interlocking gilt scrolls, the gilded lower parts of octagonal section, the facets reserved with ogival panels of Eisenrot scenes of merchants alternating with similar scenes in purpurmalerei, each on a spreading circular gilt foot (both with some wear to gilding)
