A pair of Napoleon III ormolu-mounted Svres porcelain table lamps
In the Style of Pierre-Philippe Thomire, Dated 1852
Each with a rope twist rim above a waisted neck, the ovoid body flanked to each side by a putto standing on tied ropes, on a fluted waisted socle, on a shaped square base, drilled for electricity, one with retail label to the underside, the interior with Svres mark and dated for 1852
16 in. (42 cm.) high overall, 9 in. (23 cm.) wide (2)

Lot Essay

These lamps are based on a model created in 1790 by Pierre-Philippe Thomire, illustrated in Ottomeyer & Prschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Mnchen, 1986, p.301, now in the Muse du louvre, Paris.
