Octagonal, the sides with cloisonné enamel floral scrolls on stippled gilt ground, alternating with engraved stylized scenes of Chinese men and women, the detachable slightly domed covers with alternating enamelled floral scrolls and engraved flower-heads, the raised circular center topped with similar enamelled stylized dragon-heads, all within twisted ropework borders, the bases with blue enamel inscriptions in German, marked under bases and on flanges of covers
