A PAIR OF POTSCHAPPEL (CARL THIEME) OGEE-SHAPED VASES, COVERS AND STANDS, the spirally-moulded covers applied with flowers and surmounted with cherubs flanking crowned Coats-of-Arms, the bodies applied at the shoulders with twin cherubs holding flower-garlands and with ribbon-tied flowering branches encircling the necks, the bodies painted with groups of classical figures seated and standing before columns swathed in red drapery, one with a maiden and attendants, the other with a king enthroned approached by a woman bidding peace to a weeping man, on spirally-moulded flowered stems and flowered square bases (both covers restored, chips to applied flowers, two cherubs with one wing lacking), blue cross and T marks, impressed 479 and 450, circa 1880
