A PAIR OF REGENCY MAHOGANY HALL CHAIRS
IN THE MANNER OF WILLIAM TROTTER OF EDINBURGH
The shell-carved backs, above c-scroll supports, divided by painted armorial crests, the solid seats with gadrooned chair-rails and ring- turned tapering supports (2)
A similar pair of Regency hall-chairs with Venus-shell crests were sold at Christie's King Street 30th January 1986, lot 42. It is possible that this pair with their reed-gadrooned rails were executed by William Trotter of Edinburgh.
