Lot Essay

The stamp is that of Franois-Honors Georges Jacob-Desmalter, in use 1813-1825

A related suite of furniture by Jacob-Desmalter with similar delicate scrolling inlay executed in amaranth, previously in the collection of R. Imbert, is illustrated in D. Ledoux-Lebard, Le Mobilier Franais du XIXe Sicle, Paris, 1984, pp. 354-5.
