A PAIR OF ROMAN GOLD, GARNET AND CORNELIAN EARRINGS
3RD CENTURY A.D.
Each with oval box setting with bevelled cornelian inlay, two circular garnet inlays below, with pendant inverted pyramid composed of four large spheres, smaller granules and three beaded wire struts, with central tear-drop garnet inlay, twisted wire ear loop at back; and a pair of East Roman gold and garnet earrings, each navicella hoop set with four tear-drop cabochon garnet inlays surrounded by granulated border, with pendant pyramid sphere cluster below, hinged ear mechanism, circa 2nd Century A.D.
