The exterior of each bowl painted with four swimming ducks divided by large lotus flowers above leaves and stalks rising from water and flanked by tall water weeds, the interior with a panel of two ducks within a lotus pond, one stained

The Ming precursor for this design can be seen ina bowl excavated from the Zhengtong period (1436-49) stratum of the Imperial Kiln site at Jingdezhen, illustrated by Scott, Orientations, April, 1992, p. 50, fig. 12.
A similar example sold in our Hong Kong Rooms, ?? October 1990, lot 516.
