A PAIR OF VENETIAN GILT-PAINTED REPOUSSE COPPER AND BRONZE LANTERNS
PROBABLY CIRCA 1700, INTERNALLY RE-FRAMED IN THE 19TH CENTURY AND WITH LATER EMBELLISHMENTS, THE BRONZE LIONS AND BLACKAMOORS PROBABLY ADDED AT THIS TIME
Each with circular pagoda canopy hung with lambrequin and later giltwood bells, above an onion dome with mirrored flowerheads and the hexagonal tapering body surmounted by six draped blackamoor figures, each flanking a coat-of-arms below a coronet and backed with a martial trophy, the later opaque glass panels within pierced entwined foliate borders, above a tapering bulbous boss, surmounted by rampant lions, redecorated and restorations, one lantern with four cracked panes and each lacking a rampant lion
