A PALE GREYISH-GREEN JADE RUYI SCEPTER
19TH CENTURY
The ruyi-shaped head is carved in low relief with a shou character surrounded by four of the Eight Buddhist Emblems (bajixiang), the Canopy, the Vase, the Fish, and the Lotus, while the other four emblems, the Endless Knot, the Umbrella, the Conch Shell and the Wheel of the Law are on the arched handle. Two small white inclusions in the semi-translucent stone are carved with clouds on the reverse.
