A PORTABLE WRITING BOX AND STATIONERY BOX (KAKESUZURIBAKO)

Composed of a writing box raised above a deeper container for writing paper, the exterior designed overall in two-colored gold hiramaki-e and kakiwari with overlapping blossoms of two varieties of chrysanthemums, the interiors of both sections decorated in gold hiramaki-e with tomo-e medallions reserved on a roiro-nuri ground; fitted with a removable implement tray holding a silver mizuire cast with chrysanthemum florets in a silver saucer and an inkstone lacquered on the upper edge in fundame and on the base in roiro-nuri, the lower interior beneath the tray and bases roiro-nuri, outer rims silver
