A RARE CLOISONNE ENAMEL AND GILT-BRONZE HILL-FORM TRIPOD CENSER AND COVER
LATE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY; THE CLOISONNE COVER, 15TH CENTURY

The broad cylindrical gilt-bronze censer cast with concentric bands and raised on three short cabriole feet, the base with an apocryphal Xuande six-character mark, the domed pierced cover enamelled with frothing waves encircled by bands of foliate and ruyi scrolls along the sloping sides, surmounted by a coiled gilt-bronze chilong with its head raised and mouth open (enamel losses infilled)
