A RARE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL QUADRILOBED CUP AND STAND
17TH-18TH CENTURY
The cup is decorated on two sides with a blue shou character between two red bats flanked by foliate scroll and a pair of gilt dragon handles. The cup sits on a domed platform with a petal-lappet border in the center of the stand which is decorated with foliate scroll and an outer border of blue ruyi heads repeated on the everted rim between lotus sprays. Related decoration is on the underside of the rim and around the exterior, and the base is decorated with 'prunus and cracked ice' pattern surrounding a gilt square inscribed with a four-character mark, xi yun shan guan ('mountain dwelling in the Western clouds'), within a square.
