Lot Essay

The original print for this design is unknown. A similar teabowl and saucer is in the Bal Collection, in the Zeeuws Museum, Middelburg, illustrated by D. F. Lunsingh Scheurleer, Chinese Export Porcelain - Chine de Commande, London, 1974, no.211. Another is in the Museum Boymans, Bulletin VII, no.2, p.67. A third from the Mottahedeh Collection, is illustrated by Howard and Ayers, China for the West, London and New York, 1978, vol. I, no.271.
