Lot Essay

A gold and enamel dagger apparently from the same workshop, although without jewels, was sold from the Arturo Lopez-Willshaw Collection, Sotheby's, London, June 10, 1974, lot 7. The elaborate gem-set mounts on the present example indicates that it was made for the Turkish market.
